Ankle Sprains
An ankle sprain is caused by excessive force around the ankle joint resulting in stretching or tearing of ligaments. There are degrees of severity which will dictate treatment options. Symptoms may include pain, swelling, or discoloration. The common ankle sprain is typically treated with rest, ice, compression, and elevation. However, more severe injuries may require further diagnostic studies.
Bunions
A bunion is a joint that is slowly dislocating directly behind the big toe. This is most commonly caused by poor mechanics of the foot. Other factors such as footwear may exacerbate the problem. There are several conservative treatment options that we believe should be tried prior to surgical discussion.
Flat Feet
Flat feet occur in juveniles and adults alike. Generally, flat feet can be seen by the collapsing of the arch on the inside of the foot. This may become painful and cause many other problems such as bunions, hammertoes, knee pain, and plantar fasciitis. A majority of the time, flat feet symptoms can be successfully treated non-surgically.
We Have Orthotics!
Carson Valley Foot Care offers pre-fabricated and custom-fitted orthotics.
Hammertoes
A hammertoe is a buckling deformity of the middle joint in the toe. Hammertoes may cause pain from calluses or excessive pressure at points of contact. There are many causes of hammertoes that, left untreated, may become inflexible and require surgery.
Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar Fasciitis is an inflamed ligament on bottom of the foot. This common condition may manifest as heel or arch pain. We are highly successful treating this condition with custom, functional orthosis.
Routine Footcare
Palliative care is the cornerstone of our practice. We routinely treat patients with corns/calluses, and or thickened or deformed nails.
Athlete’ Foot
Athlete’s Foot is a fungal infection seen in more than 10% of the population. This fungus likes dark, hot, and moist places which makes it highly transmittable.
